Fruit with Fromage Blanc and Greek Yoghurt - which are both Virtually Fat Free!!!!
I have been making a large bowl of fruit salad every day this week, and I am eating it for both breakfast and lunch, usually with a 0% fat yoghurt or fromage blanc (frais). If I'm hungry rather then snacking on my favourite biscuits, cakes and chocolate, I just eat another bowlful of fruit. The fruit and yoghurt are delicious and I feel far healthier, following the (very enjoyable) over eating at Christmas and the New Year!
I wonder if you can guess what my secret, additional ingredient is? You can see it sprinkled in the first photograph!
It's lavender.
Last year when I discovered Vanessa's great blog, and her super book Prepped, I found myself using lavender more and more frequently in my cooking. It's a really wonderful herb to have with this simple meal. The association, in my mind at least, with lovely, sweet, flowery flavours, compensates for the lack of either sugar or honey in this fruit salad, and the lavender provides an extra depth.
Thank you Karen and Vanessa for inspiring this fruit salad!
