Halloween Lunch

I know!  Four posts in October, and now two on the first day of November!  I have a great deal of catching up to do!  And if I don't get my Halloween posts out today,  I might just as well mothball them until next year!

My daughter's friends came for lunch yesterday and we had a lovely time.

Unfortunately preparing a meal for seven young girls, witches and monsters,   meant I was a little remiss in my camera use,  some of the photographs are slightly out of focus, the reality of preparing a meal for hungry six and seven year olds means there is no time for a 'second take'.

I decided to keep the meal simple and having seen pumpkin shaped pizzas on various blogs, I thought I would give them a try, adding a ghost and bat for each child.  They were supplemented with cocktail sausages and sausage rolls, as well as olives (black and green) and various cold meats.

There were shop bought cakes and biscuits for pudding and then once I had cleared the table the girls decorated orange (coloured) and chocolate (flavoured) cupcakes.  I had baked enough for them to have six each to take home, which they did.  (Of course, these are what I completely forgot to photograph,  which is a great shame, as the girls had all come up with fantastic designs for their cakes!)

Looking at my daughter's lunch plate I think it's a good job we don't have  celebrations  every day!  I did have raw carrots and as I had bought some yellow as well as orange, they did all have two carrot sticks to compare the taste - so some vegetables were consumed!

The table, before the feasting started!

A spooooky, haunted Bundt castle cake

I used one cake stand for savouries

The cocktail sticks were bought as part of cupcake
kits, but I thought it more fun to use them with the food

Lots of shop bought goodies, which the girls all
enjoyed eating

We were inundated with spiders! UGGH!

Even on the fruit!

I made normal pizza dough, and used cookie cutters
to cut out shapes

Pumpkins, Bats

And Ghosts

I kept them simple, just tomato and mozzarella
I was pleased with the Bundt castle cake,
I decorated it with a white glace icing, which I poured and
drizzled over the cake, and then various ghosts etc. from
the cupcake kits
And some more spiders!
The cupcake kits, from which I took the ghosts and witches

This is my daughter's  lunch( I forgot to photograph
the completed pizzas!)

Poor thing, as the hostess, she got the worst shaped pizzas!
If you look carefully you can just make out the ghost,
the bat beside it and the pumpkin, under the sausages.
I hope you can just see the yellow and orange carrots
at the top of her plate,
she had eaten several olives just  before
I took the photograph!
