Rococo Chocolate Workshop - A Wonderful Half Term Chocolate Treat

I have always been fond of Rococo Chocolate, and following the wonderful Let's Make Christmas event in November (if you missed the post click here) have been making an even bigger  effort to buy high quality, ethically sourced chocolate for both cooking and gifts.

I  follow the Rococo  blog and often look at the website .  When I saw plans for an hour long chocolate baking workshop for children during the half term holiday,  I decided to book the activity for my daughter and a friend.

We travelled up to Knightsbridge from Richmond on the tube and quickly found the Motcomb Street branch.

It looked so pretty and inviting.  When we went in,  the shop seemed very busy, it was the other children waiting with  their parents or grandparents.

The children were treated to marshmallows while Julie explained kitchen rules to them, she then took them down to the chocolate kitchen.

In an hour they managed to make Tiffin, Brownies and to decorate Chocolate Cupcakes.  Each child had a sample of the cooking to bring home as well the recipes to continue developing their new found interest in  chocolate baking at home.

My daughter and her friend had a thoroughly delightful time.  They mixed and stirred, crushed and crunched, and decorated with glee.   The class size of 8 children  was perfect,  ensuring that each child had a chance to do something, and more importantly they could see exactly what was going on.

Meanwhile I was able to relax and enjoy a coffee upstairs, while peeking through the glass floor to check that the  two girls were  both happy and busy.  (I also stocked up on some super chocolatey cooking ingredients).

This was a wonderful half term treat, an hour being the  perfect time for such  concentrated activity.

I also want to add that the staff were all welcoming and the atmosphere in the shop was relaxed and comfortable.

I would highly recommend the workshop, as would the girls.  They spent the journey home discussing what they had been doing and when they would next go.  I can see this becoming an annual (or even more frequent) fixture in their calendar!

My daughter is off to the Florence Nightingale Museum with friends today, but we are planning to use the Rococo recipes and make both  the Tiffin and Brownies tomorrow, so look out for my post on our shared baking day very soon.

I love it's face!

The girls both bought themselves a chocolatey treat too!

This pattern would be perfect!

A wonderful plate of chocolate baking!

Please note I paid for the workshop myself, I was not asked to write about the morning, but it was so lovely I wanted to share it with you, and I do recommend it.  It would be a lovely treat for your own children, or for visitors.  There are also some exciting adult workshops too.   The girls came away  very happy and with a sense of achievement, as well as a growing love of chocolate cookery!

  1. Those eggs look so pretty. Somebody gave me bar of their jasmine chocolate last week. Try as I might, I couldn't make out the jasmine - maybe I've ruined my palate on Cadbury's!
