This wonderful idea is the brainchild of Lynn Hill. She started with her own Secret Tea Room, held in her living room. Lynn however wanted to share her love of cakes with more people, and in December 2010 the first Clandestine Cake Club started in Leeds. There are now regular meetings around the country full of cake enthusiasts. Lynn has worked incredibly hard to produce this inspiring book full of The Clandestine Cake Club member's own recipes.
This beautifully produced book contains 120 cake recipes. Some are Lynn's own, I particularly like the sound of her St Paddy's Day Guinness Loaf, and I will be baking it next month as part of my St Patrick's Day celebrations.
There are delicious cakes from some of my favourite bloggers. Vanessa (JuniperandRose) has a recipe for Cardamom, Rose and Rhubarb Cake. Karen (LavenderandLovage) has a Violet Posy Cake, Dorset Apple Cake and a Hogmanay Dundee cake doused in whisky. While Carmella (Carmella'sKitchen) has Amaretto Cream Cake and a Dark Chocolate & Amaretto Cake. And Choclette (ChocolateLogBlog) has Passion Fruit Cake. They all look and sound scrumptious!
As you know I am keen on Bundt cakes and it's wonderful to see plenty of Bundt recipes, many from Rachel (DollyBakes), I can see my tins getting plenty of use this year.
Each cake is tempting, the instructions are clear and the photographs are stunning, really encouraging me to role up my sleeves, and start weighing out the ingredients.
My daughter and I are planning a few bakes, so do look out for them, and she is seriously considering the hedgehog cake for her next birthday. We both think it's gorgeous!
The book will be published on February 14th, and it is available for pre-order online. It would be a perfect gift for the cake baker in your life, on the other hand you could drop a hint if you're the baker in the household. There are certainly plenty of delicious recipes to keep any cake baker happy.
